Cards from an Icon

Greg from Night Owl Cards is a legend in our space.  He continues to churn out quality posts every day.  When he sends me cards I pay close attention because there is almost always a surprise in store.  Let's see what treats the multi time Blog of the Year winner sent my way:

I remember catching a line about Cornelius while watching a Bama show-When the grim reaper shows up he'll be wearing a 97 Jersey.  Just a touch before my time when he was at Bama but he sure was a tough hombre.

Sunday Break

I'm still recovering from last nights Cardinals/Packers game but I'm here to share another cheapo break.  This one also comes courtesy of Toys R Us. 

This is a one card blaster but it's a guaranteed autograph.  I have tried these once before back in the day with a not so great pull.  Will I get lucky and pull a super ridiculous green parallel of Geno Smith to throw at Bob Walk?  Will I pull some cool Alabama Alumnus??  Is the suspense killing you this Sunday evening?

Looking back this one is one I wish I'd passed on but them's the breaks!

A good night!

It's not always easy to be an Arizona Cardinals fan.  Winning seasons have been few and far between until recently.  It's even harder to be a Cards fan in Alabama.  There just aren't many sympathizers or co-conspirators. Opportunities to see the games are few and far between most years.  Tonight seemed like it was going to be another disappointment but then he happened:

I know it's a hard one to swallow for Packers fans and you have my sports condolences this evening.

However, as a Cardinal fan it's a night for hope and anticipation!  Could this be the year?  I've told friends, that know me as the lonely Cardinals fan in Alabama, that I just want to see a Super Bowl win in my lifetime.  I thought it was going to happen once before and then Big Ben to Santonio happened. Maybe this is year instead of the normal maybe next year!

Sunday Break

I'm going to try and establish some more consistent content here in addition to just sharing maildays and offering cards.  One way I'd like to do that is sharing some breaks.  When I see something that strikes me as a bargain I will often strike-some times I regret that decision and sometimes I do not.  Let's take a look at a break

 Horrible picture of the box but what we are breaking is 2010 TNA The New Era.  You get 24 cards in one cellophane wrapper with a guaranteed auto per box.  I did find these slightly marked down at $14.99 at my local Toys R Us.  I would have hoped to pay less since they are now six years old but it is TRU and they are always a little overpriced on cards. 

 The base cards are nothing fancy.

I could have done better on the guaranteed auto but Val is hot and I will gladly add her to my wrasslin auto collection.  Didn't luck out and pull Hogan or Flair but I'll take it over some of the available autos.

Grade for this purchase-C-  I obviously wouldn't have paid fifteen bucks for this So Cal Val Auto and some base cards but that is the thrill of the chase.  Could have done worse so we'll put this in the C- range.
