The value of LISTIA

Listia is sometimes a very neat little resource to unload and pick up cards. Last year I tinkered around with the site for a while but became bored with it.  I recently saw some fellow bloggers were dipping the foot in the pool so I decided to give it a try again.  I have unloaded some stuff on there and accumulated some credits which I am now starting to spend.  Even though no money is involved, I still try to break it down monetarily when bidding. Credits when won by posting an auction don't necessarily always go as high in bid as you might think.  Some auctions just don't get looked at and some get drove up with bidding wars.  I try to think about the credits as dollars. If you buy credits from Listia, you basically pay a $1 for every 3 or 4 hundred credits depending on how many you buy.  I like to think 400 credits roughly equal a dollar.  I think of this when I am bidding on auctions.  So I am going to begin sharing my wins and grading how I think I did. Should be fun!!

Auction Win=1 Pack of 1995 Pinnacle UC3 Baseball
Cost=500 Credits
At roughly 1.25 I decided to try and win a pack of these. They remind me of Sportsflix.  They had a few inserts to try for but of course I didn't score any!  I was just in this one for the fun of opening a pack of something that I didn't back in the day.
I ended up getting base of Barry Bonds, Mike Piazza, Mark Grace, and Alan Trammell.  I also got an "In depth" subset card of Rafael Palmeiro.  Nothing really in there for me but I will grade this auction win at a B-.

How do you grade it?  What do think of Listia? Have you ever tried it?

Danger .Danger.Danger

So, I guess the Braves are hexed with the Nationals. The Wild Card may be the only option, still early at this point but not looking good.

Also on the front of my other team, it appears we have a QB problem. Kevin Kolb doesn't look like the answer for the Cardinals. I think I'm hitching my wagon to John Skelton.

I'm going to shift mojo today and share two packages I recently received from two friends over at CCW.

jwgreen68 sent me a passel of Bravos. I had none of these!! Thanks Jerry!

My buddy, Woody, sent me some Cardinals-also all of which I didn't have! Rock on Jeff

Expecting quite a few packages incoming from Listia!  I will share when those goodies arrive!

Mail day courtesy of my Favorite Dutch Card Guy

Received a great package from Jeroen over at the Dutch Card Guy Blog. In addition to sending me some VERY much needed team bags, DCG also added some awesome Braves!
The Chippers!
Andruw, Huddy, McCann, Maddux, and Smoltz
Some cool chrome and some other inserts that I did not have!
Many thanks again to Jeroen! It is much appreciated!

Time to share. Some for me and maybe something for you!

Received some mail today from my friend Jon Brock at CCW.  He recently ran a trade bait draft on site and these are my goodies I received.

First are the Braves which I received which will be going into the PC
The rest of these can be had for only a Braves GU or Auto in return. First up two Yankees and Two Rockies
Next up is a D Ray, Mariner, DBack, and a Red.
If you are interested in any of these just drop me a message in the comments.

Some retail therapy

If anyone is still out there reading...crickets...I 'm firing the blog back up and trying to shake off my trade bait draft rust.

I had some good fortune and won a contest at work. The decision was made by me to drop it on cardboard.  I haven't dipped into retail repacks in a while. They can be addictive. Usually there is no pay off at the end but it's usually good clean fun and no one but me gets hurt.

Let's look at what $40 bucks can get us in repack glory this Saturday afternoon! I will provide comments where appropriate and inappropriate.
Don't get too excited. The box clearly states that the cards pictured may not be inside. Damn shame, I was really hoping for that Babe Ruth Bat Card! Usually my hit is a graded card...ugh.
Ryan Braun is this box's cover boy. Yikes...
Various Topps Participants to this party
 Upper Deck Miscellanea
 Insert Ryan Braun Joke (HERE)
 Topps Chrome loves Ryan Howard
I love the Masterpieces. Always have-Always will
Freddie Freeman will you bring me luck
Now we are into the contents of the "GEM" box. Oh great, there's Braun again.
 More Topps stuff
Tristar-I've never opened this before, game on.
OOOOOh, the mystery. At least it doesn't appear to be a graded card.
Another shot of the mystery cardboard, What could be inside.
Some of my favorites. Viva Livan and sliding Josh!
Is this guy still a big deal.
The black inserts from O Pee Chee.
Chrome Produces Mr. Bloody Sock and his Blue Refractor Twin.
 Some vintage...reprints lol.
Miscellanea...El Cabello + the only guy I've heard of from the Tristar
 OOOO. Star Quest
 Die Cut...
These shinies are cool. Maddux especially
O gosh. Yankees. Who would want this foolishness
 Love the masterpieces€
At least there were four numbered cards. But two of them were Yankees and Mets
Some neat rookie finds...Tulo, Ubaldo, Longo, McCutcheon, and Lincecum
The hit which turned out to be an auto. Was a very pleasant surprise!
If I'm gonna grade this haul, I guess I will go with C++. The Gorman kinda saved it for me.  Most of this filth is available if anyone wants to trade today.
